How Many Days Do You Need in Italy?
The honest answer depends on how many places you want to see. A few rules of thumb help.
5 to 7 days
Pick two or three bases. Rome and Florence, or Florence and Venice, work well without rushing.
8 to 10 days
This is the classic first trip: Rome, Florence and Venice, with a day trip to Pisa or Siena.
2 weeks or more
Add Milan and Lake Como, the Amalfi Coast, or the south: Matera, Puglia or Sicily.
